• The ratio of the hose rating to the lowest pressure at which the hose would rupture is known as the safety factor, sometimes known as the design factor. A rubber hose with a safety factor of 2:1, for instance, is rated for pressures up to 10,000 psi (700 bar) and a minimum burst pressure of 20,000 psi (1400 bar).
